Understanding the Role of Holistic Child Development in Play School
Holistic child
development is an all-around growth of a child that nourishes better human
qualities and adds value to their lives.
The early childhood
days are a clean slate and therefore what we write on it becomes important.
It’s a perfect chance to mould them in the right direction and it is only
possible by catering to different aspects of their growth.
Following aspects are
considered for the holistic child development
1. Transformative
Approach
The concept of
holistic development promotes the idea of holism taking a transformative
approach to impart education. Here’s when the education evolves beyond the
usual surface of being a transmission and transactive process.
Such approach shifts
the reference frame from ‘what children have’ to ‘what they should be’. A
holistic approach transcends the children’s world view, mental habits, and
their perception altogether.
2. Connections, Not
Fragmentations
Holistic learning
involves shifting students from the idea of fragmentation to connections. It
eliminates the idea of division based on grades, intelligence, social strata or
anything. The feeling of oneness thrives by keeping the group integrated into
everything and everyone.
Such an education
poses is a totally
different Preschool of thought that doesn’t isolate the
learning process into multiple components. The major differentiator between a
mediocre and a holistic classroom lies in how it is structured fundamentally.
The holistic classrooms tend to have a small group of children in session and
are often a mix-bag with varied ability, age and behavioral dimensions.
3.
Community Development
Children
learn a lot about themselves through relationships and learning. The concept of
community development and harmony is thus vital to the holistic child development.
A holistic classroom is itself a community which is a subset of
the larger community, the school which again is the subset of a city and this
is how it extends till the general human community. A sense of belongingness
amongst children will ensure instilling community values and social confidence.
Moulding
children during early ages require teachers to ensure that all these are taken
care of and hence imperative to implement the same in school and daycare, both.
